Da Nang Hosts Investment Promotion Conference “Da Nang: A New Convergence Point for Green Capital and Digital Finance” on the Sidelines of the World Economic Forum Week in Switzerland

On the afternoon of January 20, 2026, Da Nang City hosted an Investment Promotion Conference entitled “Da Nang: A New Convergence Point for Green Capital and Digital Finance” in Davos, Switzerland, within the framework of the World Economic Forum Week. The Conference was attended by leaders of the Da Nang People’s Committee; representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam; and leaders of international organizations, financial institutions, enterprises, investors, experts, and scientists in the fields of finance, technology, innovation, and sustainable development.

In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, highly appreciated Da Nang City’s initiative to organize a side event of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, a major global platform for the convergence and dissemination of ideas and initiatives for international cooperation. He emphasized that, amid the strong global shift of capital flows toward green growth, innovation, and data infrastructure development, the integration of green finance with digital finance will contribute to shaping a modern, inclusive, and sustainable financial ecosystem. He further affirmed that, with its strategic location, development space, strong potential, and special mechanisms and policies, Da Nang possesses all the necessary conditions to become an attractive destination for high-quality capital flows and an important link in regional and global connectivity. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to accompanying Da Nang City along three key directions: supporting the refinement of development orientations and the roadmap for building the International Financial Center; serving as a bridge to mobilize international resources and promote substantive cooperation; and strengthening cooperation in training and developing high-quality human resources to support new development models.

In his opening address, Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, emphasized that, in the context of global capital restructuring toward greening, digitalization, and transparency, Da Nang identifies science and technology, innovation, and digital finance as key growth drivers. The city not only seeks to attract investment but also aspires to become a strategic partner accompanying investors in fostering sustainable, long-term growth. Da Nang is oriented toward becoming a regional hub for innovation, high technology, and high-quality services in Central Viet Nam, as well as a connector between green capital, digital finance, and the Asia-Pacific innovation ecosystem.

At the Conference, Da Nang City presented an overview of its investment environment and key projects calling for investment, with a focus on the Viet Nam International Financial Center in Da Nang, strategic transport infrastructure such as the urban railway system and Chu Lai Airport, and spearhead technology sectors including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies.
 
Ms. Huynh Lien Phuong, Deputy Chief of the Office of the People's Committee of Da Nang City and Chief of the Office of the Viet Nam International Finance Center in Da  Nang City, presented on the investment environment and key projects in Da Nang City.
 
The Conference received numerous comments and proposals from international organizations, enterprises, and investors. Mr. Alexander De Croo, former Prime Minister of Belgium and Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), highly appreciated Viet Nam’s establishment of the International Financial Center, viewing it as an effective channel for mobilizing capital for green projects and sustainable infrastructure, and affirmed that UNDP will continue to accompany Viet Nam and Da Nang City.

Mr. Nobumitsu Hayashi, Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), congratulated Viet Nam on its achievements in growth and reform, emphasized Da Nang’s role as a core urban center, and welcomed the early implementation of the International Financial Center. JBIC reaffirmed its continued support for Viet Nam and Da Nang in infrastructure development, green transition, digital transformation, and green finance, toward the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.

Mr. Luca Tagliaretti, Executive Director of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre, highly appreciated Da Nang’s orientation toward developing technology projects and expressed interest in the city’s plan to establish a research and development laboratory for electronic technologies. Professor Ying Zhang, Chair of the Singularity Academy, affirmed that Da Nang is an attractive destination for investment, education, and innovation, and committed to continued close cooperation with the city.

Representatives of Citi Group, Vauban Infrastructure Partners, the Swiss Fintech Association, Cambridge Ventures, and Tether all expressed strong interest in Viet Nam’s International Financial Center model, Da Nang’s infrastructure projects, fintech potential, startup ecosystem, and digital asset development, and affirmed their readiness to strengthen cooperation and support the city in the coming period.

In his closing remarks, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu sincerely thanked the participants for their candid exchanges and strategic insights. He emphasized that the Conference should not be seen as an endpoint, but rather as the starting point of a long-term cooperation journey. The city’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining regular dialogue and proactive coordination with partners to translate shared initiatives and cooperation ideas into concrete actions, thereby positioning Da Nang as a new regional convergence point for green capital and digital finance./.
