Da Nang Strengthens Technology and Digital Finance Cooperation on the Sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Switzerland

On January 20, 2026, as part of its working visit to Switzerland, a delegation of Da Nang City led by Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, held a series of meetings with international organizations, enterprises, and partners in the fields of innovation, high technology, cybersecurity, fintech, blockchain, and digital assets.
The delegation led by Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Ho Quang Buu (second from the left) paid a working visit to Yubico CompanyDuring the meetings, the delegation provided an overview of Da Nang’s socio-economic development, its orientation for science and technology development, innovation, and the establishment of the Viet Nam International Financial Center in Da Nang, while also exchanging views on potential cooperation opportunities in cybersecurity, secure semiconductors, fintech, and the development of a digital asset ecosystem.
In the afternoon, the delegation met with Coinbase (United States) — one of the world’s largest digital asset exchanges, operating as a publicly listed company with extensive experience in digital asset market operations, asset custody, and blockchain infrastructure development. During the meeting, the two sides discussed international experience in building and supervising digital asset markets; solutions for investor protection, anti–money laundering, risk management, and blockchain ecosystem development. Da Nang City proposed that Coinbase share its expertise, provide policy advisory support, and explore the possibility of participating in controlled pilot programs (regulatory sandboxes) in the digital asset sector, in alignment with the development orientation of the Viet Nam International Financial Center in Da Nang.
Speaking at the meetings, Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu emphasized that Da Nang identifies science and technology, innovation, and digital finance as key growth drivers in the coming period, and expressed the city’s desire to strengthen cooperation with international partners in research, technology transfer, and the attraction of high-quality investment. He also extended invitations to partners to attend the Economic, Financial, and Technology Forum scheduled to be held in Da Nang in July 2026, with a view to further discussions and the concretization of cooperation initiatives.

Ms. Huynh Lien Phuong, Deputy Chief of the Office of the People's Committee of Da Nang City and Chief of the Office of the Viet Nam International Finance Center in Da Nang City, delivered a speech at the event “Lightning presentations and Call for Collaborations”.
Also in the afternoon, representatives of the delegation participated and delivered remarks at the “Lightning presentations and Call for Collaborations” event held within the framework of the World Economic Forum 2026 Week in Davos. Ms. Huynh Lien Phuong, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Da Nang People’s Committee and concurrently Chief of Office of the Viet Nam International Financial Center in Da Nang, presented a paper titled “The Rising Nexus of Green Capital and Digital Finance Opportunities in Vietnam”. Her presentation introduced the Viet Nam International Financial Center in Da Nang, highlighting its development orientation and potential in green finance, digital finance, and fintech products and sectors that Da Nang is actively seeking to attract investment in. The presentation drew strong interest from international organizations, enterprises, and experts, contributing to expanded cooperation and connectivity in innovation, financial technology, and sustainable development in the period ahead./.
